FAQ - Piercing

1. Do I need an appointment to get a piercing done?

a. We take piercings on a walk in basis from 1pm till 7:30pm Monday through Saturday for general piercings. For oral piercings, genital piercings, and surface work (anchors and surface bars) please contact us ahead to get days and times for those piercings.

2. How old do I have to be to get a piercing done?

a. You need to be at least 18 years of age with valid state or government issue photo ID to get any piercing done without parental consent. ID is required for piercing services and we will not be able to help you without ID present, no exceptions. If you are under 18 we can still do piercings with the following guidelines:

i. The youngest we will pierce is 8 years old. From 8 years old until the 15 th birthday we can only do piercings on the ear lobes. For 15 years till the 18 th birthday we can do any ear piercings, nostrils, septums, and eyebrow piercings. All other piercings require the client to be at least 18 years of age at the time of service.

ii. For clients under the age of 18 one of the parents needs to be present, both the minor and parent need to have valid photo identification, and a copy of the birth certificate is required as well. There are no exceptions to this.

a. If it is a court appointed guardian consenting we need a copy of the court papers giving legal guardianship rights over the minor.

3. I have sensitive skin, what do you have for that?

a. All of the jewelry we work with here at Studio 28 is made from American Standard implant grade titanium and steel and our gold is made from 18k or 14k solid gold, not plated or dipped. That all means the jewelry is of the highest quality and safest materials for your body.

4. How much does a piercing cost?

a. Pricing starts at $60 to $100 per piercing for most piercings, surface and genital piercings start at $100 to $140 per piercing with basic jewelry included. We also have a large selection of jewelry here that you can be pierced with if you wanted to upgrade to something else.

5. How are your piercings performed?

a. For all of our piercings, we use single use sterilized needles only with all sterilized tools and working surfaces. Each procedure will have the materials opened in front of you so you can see and inspect packaging if you wish.

6. How long does it take to get a piercing?

a. The process itself is typically 20 to 30 minutes for 1 to 2 piercings. As we take all of our clients on a walk-in basis the wait time can be longer depending on how many people are ahead of you. We do not take appointments for piercings so we always recommend to come as early in the day as you are able.

7. How long do I have to wait before swimming?

a. We recommend a minimum of 8 weeks from getting the piercing done before any type
of swimming or submersion of the piercing.

8. Can I be pierced with a ring instead of a stud?

a. We do initial piercings on daiths and septums with rings. Eyebrows, navels, and rooks are pierced with curved barbells. All other non-genital or surface piercings will be performed with studs as rings can be very problematic to heal. You can always change to a ring after the piercing has healed. Surface piercings will be performed with surface bars or anchors. Genital piercings will vary on the initial style of jewelry.

9. What should I do before coming in to get a piercing done?

a. Before coming in we recommend to have something to eat to help avoid getting light headed or passing out. We also recommend to wear something comfortable and appropriate for what you are looking to get pierced.

a. We do allow for underage people in the studio. Unless they are a properly consented for minor they are not allowed in procedure rooms for any reason.
b. Anyone under the age of 18 must have proper adult supervision at all times while in the shop.
